In my opinion (Dr. Yetta McCullom) the frenectomy is one of the most unnecessary surgeries ever done. It is indicated in cases when there is a gap between the teeth and braces have closed the gap to minimize the opening from recurring. I’m happy to consult anyone who has had the recommendation for a frenectomy as a preventive measure, especially children.
