What is Laser Periodontal Therapy™?

South Side Chicago Dentist

Simply stated, the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, LANAP, is another approach to surgery that does not require the use of a scalpel, sutures or various bone grafting materials. The result is a gentler procedure for the patient, the potential for regeneration, and effective control of the oral infection known as gum disease. Treating gum disease is about management; ongoing maintenance remains the cornerstone of care.  There is no magic cure but with proper care you can keep your teeth and enjoy a reasonable level of health.

Our South Side Chicago Dentist office remains one of the first and only in the area to offer Laser Periodontal Therapy™ for the treatment of gingivitis and/or periodontitis. Dr. Yetta McCullom loves this procedure so much that she spent an additional year studying and training to become an instructor of the technique. Her assumption at that time was every dentist would purchase the laser. Eight years later she still believes LANAP should be the standard of care for the treatment of periodontitis and remains the only dentist on the south side offering the procedure.  LANAP is an FDA approved evidenced based technique.
